So, with the impending Uganda trip I’ve spent some time doing the research (aka ogling photos on the internet of big fish) and with the constant sight of pictures of Perch in the 25 – 50kg range, I figured these big fish might like a big fly.

So, employing the tying tactics of Francois Botha (who has promised a Step-by-Step), I concocted this… Probably the biggest fly I’ve ever tied. And yes, I will be casting it!

Hook: 10/0 SL12s
Upper Body: Dark (with red flash) Flash Sculpting Fibre
Lower Body: Light (with clear flash)Flash Sculpting Fibre
Rock/Weed Guard: 50lb Mono
Thread: Nothing thinner than 210 denier

Stacked, tied in and waiting for a hair cut!

Some size perspective... there's a lot of fibre in this fly!
