As part of the Urban Fly Fishing theme we’ve had going lately, here’s a another Cape Town city spot. It gets a bit siff and dirty but there are fussy carp and bass (and two big gold fish that I have a bone to pick with!). It’s also a 2 min drive from home, close to the city bowl.

These photos are from a day last year; just scratched them up while looking for others. I joined two conventional mates – Chaise and Paul – to brave the siffness and chase a few mudbones.

It’s a cool little spot Fred. I used to walk past it daily. Cape nature guys sometimes chase you off though. In winter it fills up a bit and cleans up nicely and the carp often cruse the surface. It’s just such a pity that the little river near by doesn’t flow into it.

Got so many good memories of this spot, fishing it over a five year period while staying nearby. Good size puff adders around too to keep you on your toes.
